A man was injured after he crashed into parked cars when numerous shots were fired on a residential street in Waukegan Tuesday evening.

The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 1600 block of 11th Street in Waukegan for a shooting.

911 dispatchers received multiple calls for shots fired in the area.

Dispatchers also reported one victim — and possibly more — was shot, according to fire department radio traffic.

Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

Officers arrived and found a vehicle that had crashed into two cars that were parked on 11th Street.

The vehicle that caused the crash was occupied by a male, who was the sole occupant of his car, according to a police report.

He had suffered a head injury in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.

His injuries were non-life-threatening and it was determined he did not suffer any gunshot wounds, the report said.

Officers recovered numerous shell casings in the street from the shooting. No one in the area was found to be shot.

The incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
