Police say a driver was hospitalized after running a red light and being t-boned by a dump truck before colliding with a third vehicle in Barrington Hills.
The Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District and Barrington Hills Police Department responded around 2:28 p.m. Wednesday to Barrington Road and Palatine Road in Barrington Hills for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Fire crews arrived on the scene and found a three-vehicle crash with moderate damage. No one was reported to be trapped inside the vehicles.
Barrington Hills Police Department Press Information Officer William Walsh said officers learned a car ran a red light at the intersection.
The car was t-boned by a dump truck, which was traveling through a green light.
Both vehicles collided with a third vehicle following the initial impact, Walsh said.
The Inverness Police Department and South Barrington Police Department responded to the scene to assist.
Officers shut down part of the intersection for over an hour until the crash was cleared at 3:40 p.m.
The driver of the car that caused the crash was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Walsh said it was unclear Friday on the driver’s current condition and the victim was unable to provide a statement at the time of the crash.
The occupants of the two other vehicles involved all refused medical treatment, Walsh said.
