A woman was punched in the head and beaten by a male suspect who then dragged her into the grass and carjacked her at a residence in Harvard, police said.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Driftwood Lane in Harvard.

Harvard Police Chief Tyson Bauman said a 32-year-old Harvard woman had just arrived at her home.

She got out of her 2022 Mercedes-Benz to open the garage door when an unknown male suspect approached.

The suspect punched in the head from behind and then struck her several more times, Bauman said.

The suspect dragged the victim into the grass and then got into the Mercedes.

He stole the vehicle and fled the scene. The suspect has not been taken into custody.

The incident remains under investigation by the Harvard Police Department.
