A man was flown to the hospital after he was seriously injured during an electric bicycle accident in Woodstock Thursday morning, fire officials said.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 10:38 a.m. Thursday to the area of Claussen Drive and Borden Street in Woodstock.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said it was reported that a person was injured after falling from their bicycle.
The victim had been riding an electric motorized bicycle south of the intersection on Borden Street at the time of the incident.
Paramedics arrived a short time later and located an adult male suffering from various traumatic injuries as a result of the fall, Vucha said.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested due to the extent of the man’s injuries.
The helicopter landed at the helipad at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock.
The ambulance transported the victim to the helipad and the helicopter then flew him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Vucha said the man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
