Authorities say an active investigation is underway after a gunman shot a person and fled on a bicycle in Highland Park Sunday morning.

The Highland Park Police Department and Highland Park Fire Department responded around 11:30 a.m. Sunday to the 2300 block of Green Bay Road for a report of a shooting.

One person was shot and transported to the hospital, according to City of Highland Park Communications Manager Amanda Bennett.

Bennett said she did not have the victim’s condition or their age.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was a “conflict between two individuals,” Bennett said.

The male suspect reportedly fled on a bicycle dressed in all black.

The scene has since been secured and the public is asked to avoid the area.

The Highland Park Police Department requested assistance from the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force with the investigation.
