A male victim was found unresponsive and critically injured after being shot multiple times at an apartment complex in Waukegan Friday evening.
The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 11:45 p.m. Friday to the 1600 block of Kayla Lane for a report of a shooting.
Multiple 911 callers reported hearing shots and also reported a person shot.
Officers arrived and found an injured male victim in the parking lot of the Northgate Apartments.
The victim had multiple gunshot wounds and was not conscious and not breathing, according to fire department radio traffic.
Officers began performing lifesaving measures on the victim until paramedics arrived.
The officers applied two tourniquets and performed CPR on him, a police report said.
Paramedics transported the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he underwent surgery, the report said.
The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigation Division was called to the scene to investigate.
Investigators remained at the scene for several hours into Saturday morning.
A resident who lives in the apartment building told Lake and McHenry County Scanner she heard approximately eight gunshots.
The incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
