An Island Lake man was injured after he crashed his sports car into a barrier and lost control before striking a guardrail on the Route 12 bridge in Fox Lake, police said.
The Fox Lake Fire Protection District and Fox Lake Police Department responded around 8:30 p.m. Friday to Route 12 north of Oak Street for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.
Fox Lake Police Chief Dawn DeServi said the crash involved a single vehicle with two occupants.
The driver, a 32-year-old Island Lake man, was traveling northbound on the Route 12 bridge when he struck the concrete barrier on the edge of the roadway, DeServi said.
The driver of the Chevrolet Corvette then lost control of the vehicle, which traveled across the roadway and struck a guardrail.
DeServi said an initial report of CPR being performed on one of the victims turned out to be inaccurate.
The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The passenger of the Chevrolet, a 31-year-old woman, was declined transport to the hospital.
No citations or charges have been issued so far.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Fox Lake Police Department.
