A local and federal investigation resulted in the arrest of an Algonquin man who is facing nearly 50 charges after he was found distributing and possessing child pornography.
The Algonquin Police Department executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Country Lane in Algonquin on Wednesday, according to Detective Sergeant Robert Salazar.
Salazar said officers arrested Scott D. Krueger, 50, of Algonquin, after finding him to have possessed and distributed child pornography.
The warrant was executed at Krueger’s residence and the FBI, Illinois State Police and Lake County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said their canine, Tera, who is an electronic detection canine, assisted.
Tera helped locate items that contained electronic storage, which led law enforcement to be able to analyze them.
Salazar said there is no indication that the explicit material found in the investigation involved children in Algonquin.
The investigation was launched after multiple cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Salazar said.
Court records show Krueger was charged with 45 counts of child pornography, ranging from Class X to Class 3 felonies.
A criminal complaint said Krueger possessed videos and images, some of which involved children under the age of 13.
McHenry County Judge Mark Gerhardt ordered Krueger held on a $500,000 bond during a hearing Thursday.
Krueger remains held in the McHenry County Jail and would need to post $50,000 cash in order to be released.
