UPDATE: The child’s parent has been located and proper notifications have been made, police said in an update.

Police say they are trying to locate the parents of a child who was found wandering around Route 41 in North Chicago this weekend.

The North Chicago Police Department said around 9 a.m. Sunday they are requesting the assistance of the community.

Officers found a juvenile who was wandering around Route 41 (Skokie Highway) in North Chicago.

Officials did not say what time he was located or where exactly on Route 41 he was found.

Officers are attempting to get in contact with the parents of the boy but have been unable to so far.

The child told officers that his name is Aiden but he was only able to give limited information.

The police department released a photo of the boy on social media to see if anyone recognized him.
