A Lake County sheriff’s canine helped track down a man who went missing near Antioch and was found unconscious under a covered boat over the weekend.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said Canine Dax responded to a marine in unincorporated Antioch.

Deputies were searching for a highly intoxicated man.

The man was seen going into the water with his clothes on before getting out of the water, the sheriff’s office said.

He then took off his wet clothes and walked away on foot.

Friends of the man searched for him for over an hour before calling 911, the sheriff’s office said.

Canine Dax arrived and learned the man’s scent from his wet clothing.

The police dog then tracked to a nearby boat where the man was found under the boat’s cover.

Paramedics were called to the scene and transported him to the hospital. He is expected to recover.
