Police are investigating after a man was reportedly shot in the parking lot of a liquor store in Waukegan and drove himself to the hospital Saturday morning.

The Waukegan Police Department responded around 1:18 a.m. Saturday to R&D Food and Liquor, 1026 10th Street in Waukegan, for a report of a shooting.

The male victim called 911 to report he was driving himself to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan with a gunshot wound.

The victim had suffered a single shot to his thigh and was treated at the hospital.

Officers arrived and found a shell casing inside the victim’s vehicle on the passenger side.

The passenger of the car told officers that the suspect shot at the victim from outside the vehicle.

The victim told officers the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the liquor store.

The male victim was conscious and stabilized at the hospital. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The investigation remains active and ongoing by the Waukegan Police Department.
