Authorities say a suspect is in custody after they burglarized a residence in Lake Forest and fled on foot from officers following a two-hour-long search Tuesday morning.
The Lake Forest Police Department responded around 5:58 a.m. Tuesday to the 700 block of Green Bay Road in Lake Forest.
Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Michael Lange said officers received reports of a burglar alarm at a residence.
Officers responded and began searching the area.
Officers learned of several more burglaries in the surrounding area while conducting their search, Lange said.
Nearby residents provided video to the officers and they were able to develop a description of the suspect.
Officers located the suspect in the 80 block of Sunset Drive in Lake Forest around 8 a.m.
Lange said the suspect attempted to elude officers by fleeing the area on foot but was taken into custody a short time later.
The suspect is detained at the Lake Forest Police Department Public Safety Building and the investigation is ongoing.
Detectives will be reviewing the facts of the case with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine charges.
Lange said the department is withholding the suspect’s identity until charges are approved.
“There is no safety concern for the community at this time,” the deputy chief said.
