A woman was hospitalized with moderate injuries after a head-on crash involving a box truck and a sedan, which sustained heavy damage, near Woodstock Tuesday morning.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 11 a.m. Tuesday to the 8200 block of Mason Hill Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a vehicle crash.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said fire crews arrived nine minutes after being dispatched.

They found a two-vehicle crash involving a passenger vehicle and a box truck.

Initial reports indicated a victim was trapped in the wreckage but that was unfounded, Vucha said.

The sedan involved appeared to have been traveling eastbound on Mason Hill Road near the curve.

The box truck had been traveling westbound when the sedan reportedly struck the truck head-on.

Vucha said the adult female driver of the sedan was evaluated by paramedics and transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry.

She suffered moderate, non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

Two adult males in the box truck did not report any injuries, Vucha said.

Firefighters remained on the scene for an additional 25 minutes to assist with cleanup.

Mason Hill Road was closed in both directions until the vehicles could be cleared.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
