A woman was flown to the hospital after she and a second driver were seriously injured in a crash that left a pickup truck and an SUV heavily damaged near Woodstock Tuesday.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 3:55 p.m. Tuesday to the 3600 block of North Route 47 in unincorporated Woodstock.
Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said crews were dispatched to a call of a two-vehicle crash with a possible rolled-over vehicle.
Initial reports from 911 callers indicated one of the victims had been ejected from a vehicle.
Fire crews arrived within eight minutes of the call and found two vehicles heavily damaged in the roadway, Vucha said.
Both drivers were seated along the road communicating with sheriff’s deputies.
The two drivers both suffered serious injuries, Vucha said. They were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
Two medical helicopters were requested for the incident due to the severity of the injuries.
A LifeNet helicopter landed nearby at Northwood Middle School.
The second helicopter was canceled prior to arriving, Vucha said.
The adult female driver of the white SUV was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The adult male driver of the grey pickup truck was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash but has not released information on the incident yet.
