Police arrested a 46-year-old woman after they say she stabbed her ex-husband multiple times in Antioch over a dispute about his grocery store purchases.
The Antioch Police Department and Antioch Fire Department responded around 5 p.m. Wednesday to the Joanna Court Apartments in the 200 block of Joanna Court near Route 83 in Antioch for a stabbing.
Officers found the victim, a 42-year-old Antioch man, being aided by a neighbor.
Police officials said the neighbor administered potentially lifesaving first aid to the victim by applying a tourniquet to his leg.
Paramedics transported the man to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The victim suffered stab wounds to his back and leg, police officials said. He was stabilized at the hospital and has since been released.
Investigators determined the victim was stabbed in his ex-wife’s apartment and fled to a neighboring apartment for aid.
The stabbing appears to have started over purchases the victim made at the grocery store, police officials said.
The suspect was identified as Julie Anderson, 46, of Antioch. She was taken into custody at the scene.
Anderson and the victim are divorced but still maintain a relationship.
Anderson was charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
She was held in custody at the Antioch Police Department and transported to the Lake County Jail Thursday morning.
Anderson appeared in court Thursday morning and Lake County Judge Raymond Collins ordered her held in jail pending a detention hearing.
Prosecutors said they are seeking the court to deny Anderson’s pre-trial release.
Anderson was scheduled to appear in court again for a detention hearing Thursday afternoon.
