Authorities say multiple police departments and a SWAT team have been called Saturday morning to a barricade situation involving a possible armed person in Antioch.

The Antioch Police Department was called to the incident Saturday in the 1100 block of Edgewater Lane in Antioch.

Officers are working a barricade situation involving a possibly armed subject, according to police officials.

Residents are asked to avoid the area to allow law enforcement to work.

Mutual aid assistance was requested from numerous neighboring police agencies.

The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) Emergency Services Team, which is a multi-jurisdictional SWAT team, was also called to the scene.

Police officials said they are working to bring the situation to a “safe resolution.”

The Antioch Fire Department is also standing by at the scene.

It is unclear what led to the initial response to the residence or if anyone is inside with the suspect.
