A man was found in serious condition after he crashed his motorcycle in a ditch near Woodstock Saturday evening, fire officials said.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8:41 p.m. Saturday to the 4700 block of Dean Street in unincorporated Woodstock.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said crews received a report of a single-vehicle motorcycle crash.

First responders arrived a short time later and located a damaged motorcycle, Vucha said.

The adult male operator of the motorcycle was lying near the motorcycle in the ditch.

Vucha said paramedics began assessing the male victim, who was in and out of consciousness.

A Mercyhealth React medical helicopter was requested due to the victim’s condition.

Vucha said it is unclear if the motorcycle struck anything in the crash.

An ambulance transported the man to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock.

The helicopter landed at the hospital’s helipad and the crew transferred the victim from the ambulance to the helicopter.

The victim was airlifted to Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside in Rockford in serious condition, Vucha said.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
