Police are investigating after a suspect burglarized a laundromat by entering the business and stealing money early Wednesday morning in Crystal Lake.

The Crystal Lake Police Department responded around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday to Rub a Dub Duds Laundromat, 35 Berkshire Drive in Crystal Lake.

Officers received a report that an alarm had been activated.

Police officials said officers arrived to find evidence of a theft that had occurred.

The offender broke into the change machine and stole an unknown amount of money.

The suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived.

A surveillance camera captured the suspect and police released an image of him Thursday morning.

The suspect has a stocky build and is approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9 tall, police officials said.

The police department said they are actively investigating the commercial burglary and all leads as they develop.

Officials are asking for the public to provide information on the incident to the Crystal Lake Police Department at 815-356-3620.
