A person was transported to the hospital after being stabbed by a suspect who reportedly tried to sexually assault a woman at a hotel in Waukegan Saturday evening.

The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 9:50 p.m. Saturday to the Rodeway Inn, 630 North Green Bay Road in Waukegan, for a report of a stabbing and sexual assault.

An employee called 911 to report a guest of the hotel had been the victim of an attempted sexual assault, according to a police report.

Officers arrived to find a stabbing victim, who had been stabbed by the sexual assault suspect.

The sexual assault victim reported to officers that another guest of the hotel helped her after the incident.

The guest was stabbed by the sexual assault suspect, who fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

Officers were only able to gather limited information on the offender.

The stabbing victim was uncooperative with officers and was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The stabbing victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The report said the parties involved in the incidents knew each other.

The incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
