Sheriff’s officials say they are working to identify a man who robbed a gas station convenience store in Wadsworth while armed with a gun early Monday morning.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 3:40 a.m. Monday to Loves Travel Stop, 43100 North Route 41 in Wadsworth, for a report of an armed robbery.
Deputies arrived and learned a suspect had entered the store area of the business and approached a clerk, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.
The suspect displayed a firearm and demanded money from the clerk.
He stole cash from the register and then fled the area in a black SUV, Covelli said.
The sheriff’s office released surveillance images of the suspect Monday morning.
The offender was described as a six-foot African American man, average weight and possibly in his 40s.
Covelli said the man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with an American flag, camouflage pants and boots.
Anyone with information or anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Lake County sheriff’s detectives at 847-377-4000.
