The coroner has identified a Round Lake Beach woman who was killed after she was struck by a car and then run over by a second vehicle that drove around the first car in Gurnee.
An autopsy performed Tuesday showed Teresa Williams, 56, of Round Lake Beach, died as a result of blunt force injuries from a crash, according to Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.
The Gurnee Police Department and Gurnee Fire Department responded around 9 p.m. Monday to Hunt Club Road and Washington Street for a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
Gurnee Police Department Public Information Officer Shawn Gaylor said officers learned Williams was crossing Hunt Club Road approximately 100 feet north of the crosswalk along Washington Street.
Williams was wearing all-black clothing while walking northbound in the left lane of Hunt Club Road, Gaylor said.
A Buick Encore, driven by a 24-year-old Kenosha, Wisconsin man, was traveling northbound on Hunt Club Road.
The Buick struck Williams, resulting in the woman being thrown into the right lane of northbound Hunt Club Road, Gaylor said.
A Honda Civic, driven by a 19-year-old Wauconda woman, was traveling northbound on Hunt Club Road in the same area moments later.
Gaylor said the Honda went around the stopped Buick and struck the woman, who was lying in the roadway.
Williams was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. She was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
No other injuries were reported from the crash, Gaylor said.
Investigators with the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) responded to the scene and conducted a crash investigation.
Hunt Club Road was shut down in both directions during the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Gurnee Police Department and MCAT.
