No injuries were reported after an elderly woman accidentally crashed her car into a strip mall building in Buffalo Grove Tuesday morning, officials said.
The Buffalo Grove Fire Department and Buffalo Grove Police Department responded around 11:28 a.m. Tuesday to Artisan Vapor and CBD, 802 Milwaukee Avenue in Buffalo Grove, for a vehicle crash.
Emergency crews arrived to find a car that had struck the front of the building.
Village of Buffalo Grove Director of Communications Molly Gillespie said a 77-year-old woman was operating the vehicle.
Officers learned the woman hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal.
The car jumped the curb and struck the building, causing damage that left glass windows shattered.
The car’s airbags did not deploy and the female driver declined transport to the hospital.
No pedestrians or anyone inside the building were injured.
The Buffalo Grove Building and Zoning Department was called to the scene to evaluate the structure.
The business was shut down Tuesday following the incident. Damage was also reported to the adjacent business at 804 Milwaukee Avenue.
A board-up company was also called to the scene to board up the broken windows at the front of the store.
