Felipe E. Wahlstedt, 30, of Huntley.

A registered sexual predator has been sentenced to two years in prison after he was caught at an elementary school in Huntley while students were being dismissed for the day.

Felipe E. Wahlstedt, 30, of 11860 Cape Cod Lane in Huntley, was charged in September 2022 with child sex offender present in a school zone, a Class 4 felony.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on September 13, 2022.

Wahlstedt was inside a vehicle at Leggee Elementary School, 13723 Harmony Road in Huntley, according to the complaint.

Children were being dismissed for the day from the school at the time Wahlstedt was present, the complaint said.

Wahlstedt is a registered sexual predator, according to the Illinois State Police.

Wahlstedt was convicted in 2013 and 2015 of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim who was 13 years old.

Court records show Wahlstedt also has multiple felony cases in recent years in McHenry County for failing to comply with his sex offender registration guidelines.

In July 2021, Wahlstedt was charged with child sex offender present in a school zone, which occurred in Lake in the Hills on different dates in March 2021 and June 2021.

Wahlstedt pleaded guilty to one of the three charges in September 2021 and was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 30 months of probation.

Prosecutors filed a petition to revoke his probation in that case after the charges from the Huntley incident were filed.

Court records show Wahlstedt recently entered into a negotiated plea deal with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.

He pleaded guilty to child sex offender present in a school zone, a Class 4 felony.

McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge sentenced Wahlstedt to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, which was agreed upon in his plea agreement.
