Fire officials say residents were able to escape a house after an adjacent garage became fully engulfed in flames near Antioch Saturday evening.
The Antioch Fire Department responded around 9 p.m. Saturday to the 40300 block of North Bluff Lake Road in unincorporated Antioch for a report of a structure fire.
Antioch Fire Department Battalion Chief Tim Taylor said crews arrived to find a detached garage fully involved in flames.
The fire presented immediate exposures to the house and recreational vehicles, Taylor said.
The Lake Villa, Round Lake, Round Lake, Fox Lake, Spring Grove, Grayslake and Salem, Wisconsin fire departments were called to the scene due to the extent of fire.
A water supply operation was set up as the structure is located in a neighborhood without fire hydrants, Taylor said.
Firefighters worked for two hours to extinguish the fire, conduct overhaul operations to locate hidden fires and conduct a fire investigation.
The two-car garage was left uninhabitable but an estimated loss figure was not immediately available.
Taylor said the house sustained exterior damage. Damage to the recreational vehicles is still being investigated.
No residents or firefighters were injured in the incident. No pets were injured either.
The Beach Park, Waukegan, Great Lakes, Newport and Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin fire departments covered emergency calls in Antioch during the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Antioch Fire Department along with Grayslake and Newport fire investigators.
