A 37-year-old man suffered apparent serious injuries after he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Buffalo Grove Monday evening.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department and Buffalo Grove Police Department responded around 6:48 p.m. Monday to McHenry Road and Pauline Avenue for a vehicle crash with injuries.

A dispatcher initially reported that a 911 caller said a child had been struck by a vehicle.

Officers and paramedics arrived on the scene and learned the victim was not a juvenile but was actually a 37-year-old man, according to Buffalo Grove Director of Communications Molly Gillespie.

The victim had been riding his bicycle when he was struck by the vehicle.

The victim was reported to be lying in the roadway. An initial report indicated he had head and facial injuries.

Paramedics rushed him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, a Level 1 trauma center.
