Authorities say a 2-month-old girl was found unresponsive in Waukegan and rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead Tuesday morning.

The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department responded around 6:35 a.m. Tuesday to the 1000 block of North Avenue in Waukegan.

A 911 caller reported a 2-month-old girl was bleeding from her nose, according to fire department radio traffic.

The baby was unconscious and not breathing, the 911 caller reported.

Paramedics arrived and confirmed the girl was still unresponsive, according to a police report. They began performing CPR on her.

The girl was transported by ambulance to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said.

The Waukegan Police Department Criminal Investigation Division responded to the home to begin an investigation.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office was called and responded to the hospital.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday on the baby and preliminary results are pending further scientific and medical studies.

The coroner’s office told Lake and McHenry County Scanner there is no indication of foul play.
