Charges are expected against a 40-year-old man who was flown to the hospital after he crashed his pickup truck into several trees near Crystal Lake Wednesday.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded around 10 a.m. Wednesday to the area of Edgewood Road and Jenny Jae Lane in unincorporated Crystal Lake for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find a single-vehicle crash off of the roadway on Edgewood Road between Jenny Jae Lane and Bay Road.
A preliminary investigation showed a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on Edgewood Road, sheriff’s officials said.
The Chevrolet, driven by a 40-year-old Wonder Lake, left the roadway east of Bay Road.
The vehicle struck several trees before coming to a rest in a wooded area to the south of Edgewood Road.
Paramedics arrived and reported the driver was in and out of consciousness.
Firefighters extricated him from the vehicle and transported him nearby to a landing zone.
A LifeNet medical helicopter landed on the ground and the victim was transferred to the helicopter.
The helicopter flew the man to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, sheriff’s officials said. His injuries were non-life-threatening.
The driver was the sole occupant of the Chevrolet and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene to conduct a crash investigation.
Sheriff’s officials said charges are expected but did not specify for what.
