Firefighters responding to a structure fire call found flames coming from a house and spreading quickly early Friday morning in Libertyville.

The Libertyville Fire Department and Libertyville Police Department responded around 5:55 a.m. Friday to the 1100 block of Fairlawn Avenue in Libertyville for a report of a structure fire.

Libertyville Deputy Fire Chief Steven Holtz said fire crews arrived to find flames in the rear of the residence extending into the attic.

Firefighters aggressively worked to extinguish the fire and perform overhaul operations ensuring the fire was out, Holtz said.

The fire was declared under control in less than 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Holtz said the residence sustained fire and smoke damage.

The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was activated to the box level for change of quarters units to cover Libertyville fire stations during the incident.
