Police are investigating after two suspects entered a house and robbed the residents of cannabis after threatening them in McHenry Sunday evening, officials said.
The McHenry Police Department responded around 6 p.m. Sunday to the 5200 block of West Shore Drive in McHenry for a report of a robbery.
McHenry Deputy Police Chief Thomas Walsh said officers arrived and learned two unknown males entered an unlocked door of a home.
The suspects confronted the four adult residents and demanded cannabis under the threat of force, Walsh said.
The suspects took cannabis plants and fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Walsh said it is unclear at this time whether the suspects were armed or not.
The McHenry Police Department requested the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office for assistance in searching the area. The search did not produce any results.
Walsh said the investigation is ongoing and evidence collected from the scene will be examined. “It is believed this is an isolated incident,” he said.
Investigators have not developed information to indicate there is further danger to the community.
Surveillance video from a nearby residence captured the suspects wanted in connection with the robbery.
The video showed the suspects on foot through the yard of a house. One of the suspects was running and concealing his face.
The McHenry Police Department said they are asking for the assistance of the community in identifying the offenders in the incident.
