Officials are asking the public to avoid the area after a heavy police presence was sent to a residence in Wonder Lake to conduct a warrant Friday morning.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office sent out an alert around 10:30 a.m. Friday of the situation.

The sheriff’s office said there was “heavy police activity” near the intersection of Chippewa Drive and East Wonder Lake Road in Wonder Lake.

“There is no public safety threat. Please avoid this area until further notice,” the alert said.

Officials said a search warrant was being conducted at a residence.

It is unclear if the incident was related to another call that the sheriff’s office responded to in the same area.

Deputies were called out around 8:30 a.m. Friday to the 7100 block of Chippewa Drive, which is east of Wonder Lake Road.
