James C. Gitzinger, 34, of Crystal Lake.

Police officials say investigators have arrested a Crystal Lake man after they conducted a search warrant at his residence and found he possessed child pornography.

The Crystal Lake Police Department executed a search warrant on Tuesday at a residence in the 500 block of Somerset Lane, according to Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Richard Neumann.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, of which the Crystal Lake Police Department is a participating member, sent a tip to the department that prompted an investigation.

The Crystal Lake Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit conducted the investigation, which resulted in the issuance of the warrant for the residence of 34-year-old James C. Gitzinger.

Crystal Lake police detectives took Gitzinger into custody, Neumann said.

Gitzinger was charged with 10 counts of child pornography by possession of visual reproductions on a computer, a Class 2 felony. The material involved a child under the age of 13.
