A family is seeking the community’s help after a 7-year-old girl’s puppy, who is just months old, was stolen from the front yard of their home in Waukegan Wednesday.

Gio Collins told Lake and McHenry County Scanner the incident happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

A 4-month-old puppy named Scanor was in the front yard of the family’s home in the 1100 block of North Avenue in Waukegan.

Collins said the dog, a Siberian Husky, was stolen from the yard.

Collins’ father saw a white van and heard the puppy start to bark.

“They turned around the block twice, took him and left,” Collins said.

The puppy belongs to Collins’ 7-year-old daughter, who was at school when the incident happened.

The family contacted the Waukegan Police Department and made a police report.

The family has also asked neighbors if they have surveillance cameras. They have been unable to make contact yet with the one neighbor who has cameras.
