A SWAT team and police officers arrested a suspect following a several-hour-long incident that began after shots were fired in a parking lot in Antioch Saturday evening.

The Antioch Police Department responded around 10:30 p.m. Saturday to the 1200 block of Main Street for a call of shots fired.

Police officials said officers learned the suspect fired multiple shots at another person.

The incident occurred during a dispute in a parking lot. No one was struck by the gunfire, police officials said.

A callout was made for additional police officers from surrounding police agencies to assist.

The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team (NIPAS EST) was also requested to assist.

Officers were seen at the Country Manor Apartments on Main Street and nearby residences during an active search for the suspect.

The suspect eventually surrendered and was taken into custody just before 3 a.m. Sunday.

No charges have been announced yet and the suspect’s identity has not been released.

Police officials said the investigation is still underway and more information would be released once they have been formally charged.
