Emergency crews arrived to find four vehicles involved, according to fire officials.
Two SUVs sustained moderate to heavy damage while two sedans sustained minor damage.
One of the vehicles came to a stop in the intersection while other vehicles involved came to a stop west of the intersection.
Officers arrived first and began performing CPR on the driver of one of the SUVs, who was unconscious and not breathing.
Three ambulances were called to the scene and three occupants involved were transported to area hospitals, fire officials said.
The unresponsive driver was transported to NorthShore Highland Park Hospital where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office said the victim was a 66-year-old woman from Antioch.
The coroner’s office believes the crash was the result of the woman suffering a medical emergency and her death is believed to be natural in manner.
One of the surviving victims was also transported to NorthShore Highland Park Hospital. The second surviving victim was transported to NorthShore Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview.
Both of their conditions were not known, fire officials said. Three other people involved declined transport to the hospital.
