The driver of an SUV was injured after she lost control and crashed into a horse trailer that was occupied by horses in North Barrington, officials said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department responded around 9:15 p.m. Saturday to the area of Route 59 and Miller Road in North Barrington.

Deputies arrived and found a two-vehicle crash with injuries south of the intersection near Route 59 and Brookside Road.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northbound on Route 59.

The Chevrolet, driven by a 36-year-old Grayslake woman, did not properly negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The Chevrolet crossed into the southbound lane of traffic and struck a horse trailer, Covelli said.

The trailer was being towed by a Ford F-350, driven by a 49-year-old man from Oakdale, Minnesota.

Covelli said the horse trailer was occupied with horses but they were uninjured.

The driver of the Chevrolet was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Ford was uninjured.

No citations have been issued yet as the crash remains under investigation.
