Police are investigating after a man who went to meet up with a woman at a hotel in Waukegan was robbed at gunpoint by another man and the woman.

The Waukegan Police Department responded around 6:56 a.m. on December 30 to the Red Roof Inn, 3031 Belvidere Road in Waukegan, for a report of an armed robbery.

A police report obtained by Lake and McHenry County Scanner this week said that a 35-year-old man reported that he was robbed at gunpoint in a room of the hotel.

He went into the hotel room to meet up with a 21-year-old woman, who he talked with over social media.

When he was inside the room with the woman, a man came out of the bathroom and pointed a pistol at him, the report said.

The woman went through the victim’s pockets and took $150 in cash from him.

The suspects forced the victim to unlock his cell phone and the female sent money from the victim’s CashApp account to her own account, the report said.
