State police are investigating after shots were fired at a vehicle during a road rage incident on Route 53 near Long Grove Wednesday evening.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) responded around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Route 53 and Lake Cook Road, which is located on the border of Long Grove and Palatine, for a report of a shooting.

Troopers with Troop 3 arrived to find an expressway shooting occurred on Route 53 at Lake Cook Road.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded and assisted with the incident.

The victim reported their white Chevrolet Silverado had been struck by at least one bullet, according to initial police radio traffic.

ISP officials said the driver reported someone fired shots at their vehicle following a road rage incident.

No injuries were reported in the victim’s vehicle or any other vehicle.

ISP officials said the investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available for release.
