A Wauconda man and an Island Lake man were arrested after an investigation into cocaine sales in DuPage County that resulted in officers finding one of the men with a loaded gun.
The Naperville Police Department said they recently concluded a month-long investigation into cocaine sales in their town.
Officers arrested three men during a traffic stop in the parking lot of a business in the 800 block of Route 59 in Naperville just after 3 p.m. Friday.
Aaron J. Koonce, 24, of Wauconda, was charged with two counts of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance, one of which is a Class X felony and the other is a Class 1 felony, along with one count of possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.
Koonce was the main target of the investigation, police said.
Kenny A. Navarrete, 29, of Island Lake, was with Koonce at the time of his arrest and was also arrested.
Navarrete was found in possession of a loaded handgun and cocaine, police said.
He was charged with one count of armed violence, a Class X felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.
The driver of the vehicle that Koonce and Navarrete were in was also arrested.
That man, a 29-year-old from Wauconda, was charged with a misdemeanor for driving on a suspended or revoked license.
It is unclear whether Koonce and Navarrete were released pending trial. Both men are not listed as inmates in the DuPage County Jail.
Koonce and Navarrete are both scheduled to appear in court again on Monday.
