A massive “state-of-the-art” entertainment center is set to open later this year at Gurnee Mills mall, bringing bowling, arcade games, billiards and more.
The company Round1 will open its newest location at the mall on August 31, according to Simon Property Group.
Mall officials describe Round1 as a “state-of-the-art entertainment company” offering fun for the whole family.
The business features bowling, billiards, arcade games, karaoke, darts, ping pong and a kids play zone.
The company also offers all-inclusive party packages for children and adults.
“With its variety of fun filled activities, exclusive arcade machines from Japan, and food & beverage offerings, Round1 is unparalleled by its competitors,” the company said.
Appetizers and meals, including pizza, wings, salad, ice cream and more, are offered.
Round1 started in 1993 in Japan and quickly expanded throughout the country.
The company eventually expanded to the United States when it opened a location in California in 2010. It now has over 50 locations across the United States that are open or planning to open.
Plans for Round1, which will fill part of the vacant space in Gurnee Mills where Sears was previously located, were announced in June.
After Sears closed, the mall converted the area the store occupied to become a multiple-tenant space.
Hobby Lobby opened in January 2022 in the middle of the three spaces. Round1 will be filling the space adjacent to the Hobby Lobby.
