Authorities say a 52-year-old woman was seriously injured and flown to the hospital after her car drove off of the roadway and rolled over near Harvard.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Harvard Fire Protection District responded around 8:40 p.m. Sunday to the area east of Route 173 and Altenburg Road in unincorporated Harvard for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Firefighters arrived to find a single-vehicle crash with one victim injured.
McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Eric Ellis said Thursday that the vehicle, a 2004 Ford Explorer, was traveling westbound on Altenburg Road.
The Ford left the roadway to the south at the intersection of Schultz Road and rolled over.
It is unclear what caused the driver of the Ford, a 52-year-old Harvard woman, to lose control of the car, Ellis said.
The woman was the sole occupant of the car and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
A Mercyhealth REACT medical helicopter was called and landed at Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center in Harvard.
An ambulance transported the woman to the hospital where she was transferred to the helicopter.
The helicopter flew the woman to Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital โ Riverside in Rockford.
She suffered serious injuries but her condition was not known, sheriff’s officials said.
No citations have been issued and no charges have been filed.
