The McHenry County sheriff says applications are now open for scholarship money distributed through the sheriffs’ association to help college students offset their expenses.

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association will be awarding over $58,000 in college scholarships throughout Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2024-2025 academic year.

The scholarships are to be applied only to tuition, books and fees.

The student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within Illinois. Online learning is acceptable.

McHenry County Sheriff Robb Tadelman said he will be awarding two scholarships in the amount of $500 for each recipient.

There will be no restrictions on applicants by reason of race, age, creed, color, sex or national origin.

The only limitations include applications must be permanent McHenry County residents and scholarships must be used at institutions of higher learning within the state.
