Authorities say the bomb squad has given the all-clear after a woman dropped off a package outside the McHenry County Courthouse in Woodstock, prompting an evacuation.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said an unattended package was found at the east entrance of the McHenry County Government Center.

The package was placed by someone at the east entrance near the courthouse around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Surveillance footage showed a female white driving a white GMC truck get out of the vehicle and place the package, sheriff’s officials said.

The immediate area was secured and the building, including the sheriff’s office dispatch center and the courthouse, was evacuated.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District was also dispatched to the scene to standby.

Sheriff’s officials sent an alert out and asked people to avoid the area until further notice. The east entrance as well as the east parking lot were closed to the public.
