Authorities announced attempted murder charges against a suspect who allegedly stabbed another person during a domestic incident in Barrington Monday evening.
The Barrington Police Department and Barrington Fire Department responded around 6:30 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of Walton Street for a report of a stabbing.
A male in his 60s was reported to be slashed with a knife and bleeding from the head. Three ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
Barrington Police Chief David Dorn said the incident was domestic-related.
An initial investigation showed the victim was attacked with a knife by another member of his family, Dorn said.
Three people were transported to area hospitals as a result of the dispute. Police arrested the offender.
Dorn said Tuesday evening that the offender, Hiep Luu, of Barrington, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery.
Luu remains in police custody and will be transported for an initial court hearing in Cook County on Wednesday.
The injuries suffered in the incident were not life-threatening, Dorn added.
Further details on what led to the incident and the types of injuries were not released.
