A person was found unresponsive and partially ejected after a crash involving an SUV and a semi-truck that left one of the vehicles rolled over near Richmond Wednesday afternoon.

The Richmond Township Fire Protection District responded around 2:34 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Route 173 and Hawks Point Trail in unincorporated Richmond for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries.

Fire officials said crews arrived to find two vehicles, a semi-truck and a Jeep, involved in the crash.

Heavy damage was reported to the Jeep and it came to rest on its side.

Paramedics found the driver to be partially ejected, trapped and unresponsive. The victim had potentially life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.

Mercyhealth MD-1 was requested to the scene as well as a medical helicopter. A landing zone was established at Richmond’s fire station.

The Mercyhealth MD-1 doctor was sent to the landing zone to assist with patient care, fire officials said, adding that the Spring Grove Fire Protection District established the landing zone.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the fire station where they met the LifeNet helicopter for continued advanced care, fire officials said.

LifeNet transported the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

One other person involved was evaluated at the scene but refused medical treatment and transport.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Spring Grove Police Department assisted at the scene and the sheriff’s office is investigating the incident.
