Authorities say a McHenry County sheriff’s canine assisted in tracking down a child who went missing for several hours near Crystal Lake.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched around 6:55 p.m. Monday for a report of a missing person on Erick Street in unincorporated Crystal Lake.

The young teenager was missing for approximately two hours while their family searched.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Canine Enzo and his handler, Deputy Travis Bodway, were called to assist in the search, officials said.

The duo began tracking and were able to quickly locate the child in bushes near the residence.

The young teenager was safely returned to their family without further incident, officials said.

“Good dog, Enzo!” the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.
