Officials say luckily no injuries were reported after an elderly woman crashed her sedan through a restaurant in Woodstock, causing significant damage Monday afternoon.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and Woodstock Police Department responded around 3:56 p.m. Monday to the Jimmy John’s, 361 South Eastwood Drive in Woodstock, for a vehicle crash.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said it was reported that a vehicle struck the building.

Firefighters arrived within minutes and found the aftermath of a vehicle that drove through the storefront of the restaurant.

Emergency crews found the driver had already exited her car and was sitting on the sidewalk, Vucha said.

The Buick sedan caused significant damage to the storefront and interior of the restaurant. Vucha said no structural damage was found.

The elderly female driver was evaluated by paramedics but declined further medical attention.

“The restaurant was open at the time and fortunately no injuries were reported in the incident,” Vucha said.

The McHenry County Department of Health and City of Woodstock Building & Zoning were requested to the scene.

The Woodstock Police Department, which has not released information on the incident yet, is investigating the cause of the crash.
