Three suspects were arrested after they allegedly participated in a home invasion, which was witnessed by a sheriff’s deputy, where a victim was attacked in Beach Park Friday.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9 a.m. Friday to a manufactured home in the 38700 block of North Sheridan Road in Beach Park to assist a person retrieve her property from the residence.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived and learned the caller, Melinda Uribe, 30, who has no permanent address, occasionally stayed at the residence.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said Uribe was upset because the person who lives in the residence would not open the door to allow her to gather her property.

Sheriff’s deputies knocked on the door and nobody answered.

Sheriff’s deputies suggested Uribe return at a later time with an escort from sheriff’s deputies to retrieve the property, Covelli said. She then left the area.

A sheriff’s deputy was in the same neighborhood completing paperwork in his squad car around 10 a.m.

He observed Uribe return to the residence in a vehicle.

Covelli said Uribe and a man, later identified as Robert M. Carr, 41, of Mundelein, quickly exited the car and forced entry to the front door of the residence.

A third person, later identified as Keith T. Daniels, 43, of Mundelein, entered the residence shortly after Uribe and Carr went inside, Covelli said.

Uribe and Carr attacked and battered the victim, a 29-year-old man, who lives at the residence, Covelli said.

The sheriff’s deputy, along with several other responding deputies, made entry and quickly apprehended the three offenders.

The victim did not seek medical treatment at the time.

Covelli said the three offenders were transported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and approved charges of home invasion, a Class X felony, and residential burglary, a Class 1 felony, against Uribe and Carr.

Daniels was charged with criminal trespass to residence, a Class 4 felony.

All three remain held in the Lake County Jail pending their appearances in First Appearance Court Saturday morning.
