The sheriff’s office is working to identify a man who robbed a store at gunpoint and pointed the gun at the clerk while demanding money in Wonder Lake.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Wonder Lake Police Department responded around 7:42 p.m. Thursday to the Creekside Country Store, 6014 Mill Drive in Wonder Lake, for a report of an armed robbery.
McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Communications Specialist Emily Matusek-Baker said deputies arrived and spoke with the clerk of the store.
The clerk reported an unidentified man came into the store wearing a face covering and a hood.
He pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the clerk while demanding money, Matusek-Baker said.
The clerk complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money from the register along with other merchandise.
The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction before officers arrived.
A search of the area with a canine unit yielded no results.
The incident is being investigated by the McHenry County Sheriffโs Office Criminal Investigations Division, Matusek-Baker said.
