Canines located three suspects wanted in a retail theft that fled police and then crashed before again fleeing on foot in Johnsburg Monday afternoon.

The retail theft happened just before 3 p.m. Monday at the Walmart, 3801 Running Brook Farm Boulevard in Johnsburg.

Witnesses reported a car fled from officers near the Walmart and eventually crashed near Route 31 and Harts Road.

One witness said the suspect vehicle hit the gravel on the side of the road and the car rolled over into a ditch.

Three occupants then ran from the car and went into the field, the witness said.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said three of their canines — Jett, Deuce and Enzo — and their handlers were requested to assist the Johnsburg Police Department in the search.

The canines located two of the three suspects in a field and another in a wooded area, the sheriff’s office said.
