Fire officials say a woman is lucky to have escaped with only minor injuries after she was trapped inside her SUV following a crash involving three trucks on Route 47 near Woodstock.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 11:52 a.m. Thursday to the intersection of Route 14 and Hartland Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a report of a multi-vehicle crash with entrapment.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within eight minutes and found a four-vehicle crash, according to Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha.
The vehicles sustained moderate to heavy damage in the crash.
A semi-truck, two flatbed tow trucks and a passenger SUV were involved, Vucha said.
The female driver in the SUV was trapped and required minor extrication to free her.
The woman was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Woodstock with minor injuries.
“Given the extent of damage, the female driver was lucky to have escaped with only minor injuries,” Vucha said. No other injuries were reported.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said Route 14 was shut down between Rose Farm Road and Dunham Road due to the incident.
The cause of the crash was being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
